Author: Roberta Mlinarić

ZAGREB, June 9 (Hina) - Croatia's President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic and Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic on Friday held separate talks with the visiting Montenegrin Parliament Speaker Ivan Brajovic, extending their congratulations on his country's accession to NATO, their offices reported.

Brajovic is on a official visit to Croatia, where he arrived four days after his country officially joined NATO.

The Montenegrin official thanked PM Plenkovic for Croatia's assistance to Montenegro on its journey to EU membership.

It is our goal to join the EU during Croatia's presidency, said Brajovic.

Croatia is to take the rotating presidency of the EU in the first half of 2020.

Grabar-Kitarovic reiterated that Croatia strongly supported Montenegro's EU accession talks.

There is a lot of room for the improvement of economic relations between the two countries, notably in the areas of trade and tourism, energy and infrastructure development, it was said at the talks with the Montenegrin official.
