The first conference was held in Belgrade in April, the second will take place in Zagreb, after which it will be held in Sarajevo and Vienna in September and December respectively.
Apart from the conferences, the project includes panel discussions, exhibitions and screenings of films that deal primarily with migrations from Southeast Europe to West Europe, starting with the 1960s and 1970s mass emigration of workers from Southeast Europe (including the former Yugoslavia) or Turkey to West Germany, to war refugees in the 1990s and a continual brain-drain and the latest refugee crisis, with migrants trying to reach European countries via the Balkans.
"The purpose of the project is to explore and map the strong social, cultural and artistic impact the long-lasting migration wave has had on the Western Balkan countries and the countries that are the most frequent final destinations," said the organisers of the event, the associations Bijeli Val, Krokodil, Crvena and Blockfrei.
The project is based on Europoly - The European Union Identity Trading Game - an art installation by Serbian-Austrian artist Dejan Kaludjerovic, a game of trading in European identity similar to Monopoly.
Admission to all events, to be held at the Cultural-Information Centre (KIC), is free.
