The aim of the march is to point to the importance of science and education in today's world and it is being held in 500 cities in over 40 countries, bringing together hundreds of thousands of scientists and citizens.
The idea for the March of Science was born a day after US President Donald Trump's inauguration, January 21.
The march in Croatia was supported, among others, by scientists Ivan Djikic and Ivica Puljak, and the former head of a curriculum reform working group, Boris Jokic, who said, "If anything is worth marching for today, it's science and education, which are underrated in our country."
In Zagreb, the march drew 500 people who carried banners saying "While ministers are plagiarising, the young are emigrating" and "O tempora, o Boras", referring to Science and Education Minister Pavo Barisic and University of Zagreb head Damir Boras.
Commenting on the march, Barisic said, "The scientists' task is not to march for science but think about matters important for society, for our country, and offer their solutions to those matters."
