The exhibition is organised by the Croatian Embassy to the Holy See and the Ivan Mestrovic Museums and takes place in a year that marks the 25th anniversary since the international recognition of Croatia as an independent state and the establishment of diplomatic relations between Croatia and the Holy See.
The exhibition, entitled "A Pilgrim in Sculpture", is held under the patronage of the Papal Council for Culture, the Croatian Ministry of Culture and the City of Zagreb. It aims to promote Croatian contemporary art in Rome, the centre of Christianity and a European cultural centre, the Ivan Mestrovic Museums said in a press release.
On show will be about 60 works of art, including 46 sculptures in wood, stone, bronze, glass and terracotta, and about 15 large photographs of public monument and religious sculptures.
The exhibition closes on May 20.
