According to figures collected by the World Health Organisation, as many as 64% of Croatian men and 52% of women are overweight, and one in five children (19%) have those problems.
Obesity and overweight can be considered a public health hazard. Expert Zeljko Metelko said that this problem made life expectancy shorter.
Doctor Mirna Situm warned about the serious long-term complications caused by obesity such as chronic non-contagious diseases.
