Croatian airports and seaports handle more passengers and cargo in Dec.

ZAGREB, Feb 14 (Hina) - The turnover of passengers at Croatian airports in December 2016 reached 240,000, which was by 11.2% higher than in December 2015, according to the figures provided by the national statistical office (DZS).

Air freight transport  in Croatia increased by 1.1% to 672 tonnes last December.

The busiest airport in terms of passenger turnover was Zagreb Airport that catered for 186,400 passengers, up by 10.1% in December 2016.

Air passenger transport in Croatia in 2016 rose by 13% to 8.1 million passengers handled by Croatian airports. Air freight transport increased by 5.8% in 2016 compared to 2015.

Transport of passengers by sea in Croatia rose by 8.7% to 31 million passengers in 2016, whereas maritime freight decreased by 2% with Croatian ports handling 18.5 tonnes of seaborne goods last year.

In December alone, passenger transport by sea increased year-on-year by 4% to a million, whereas transport of seaborne goods through seaports jumped by 46.7% to 1.9 million, according to the DZS.
