ZAGREB, Feb 2 (Hina) - Croatian Tourism Minister Gari Cappelli on Thursday welcomed the fact that a Michelin star was for the first time awarded to a Croatian restaurant and that an additional 34 restaurants in the country were given a fork and spoon rating, which he sees as an encouragement to the local cuisine.
Cappelli said that this was also evidence of the development of the Croatian tourist trade in the right direction.
On Wednesday, Michelin Guide reported that the Rovinj-based Monte restaurant was the first Croatian recipient of the prestigious Michelin star.
The fork and spoon rating was given to 12 restaurants in Zagreb, 12 on the peninsula of Istria and 10 in Dubrovnik.
