The donations were given to children at a ceremony prepared by the City of Zagreb authorities and representatives of the Islamic community in the Croatian capital.
The accommodation centre currently caters for 550 asylum seekers, including 93 children, from newborns to the age of 17.
During the ceremony, Mayor Milan Bandic promised that the city authorities would employ Croatian language teachers in the centre to enable those asylum seekers to learn Croatian in a bid to facilitate their integration into Croatian society.
Speaking on behalf of the Islamic community, Mevlud efendi Arslani thanked the Zagreb City Administration and Mayor Bandic for this humane gesture.
