Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu earlier today contacted Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic asking for air assistance in putting out fires that broke out in northern and central Israel, the Croatian government's public relations office said in a statement.
At the proposal of Defence Minister Damir Krsticevic and with the consent of President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic, the government decided to help Israel out by sending two planes.
Israel on Wednesday asked Croatia and Greece to send their Canadair planes and help them fight wildfires, PM Netanyahu said.
