The figures were presented earlier this week by CESI official Natasa Bijelic on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. The survey results were presented at a theme session organised by the parliamentary Gender Equality Committee and CESI.
As many as 30% of teenagers said they knew at least one boy in their surroundings who verbally abused his girlfriend and 20% of them were aware of relationships in which a boy was physically violent.
When it comes to the role of teachers, the survey showed that they punish boys more severely.
About 40% of respondents said they had relationships before.
"The findings are alarming and it is worrying that one third of adolescents justify violence," said Maja Mamula of the Women's Room association, adding that it was time for serious prevention measures.
Sanja Juras of the Kontra association for the protection of lesbian rights warned about violence against lesbian, bisexual and transgender women.
