The president briefly met with Skabrnja municipal leaders and families of the Skabrnja residents killed.
A total of 43 Skabrnja residents and 15 soldiers were killed on 18 November 1991 when Serb forces, backed by the air force and infantry of the Yugoslav People's Army (JNA) Knin Corps under Ratko Mladic, occupied this village, located 25 east of the coastal city of Zadar.
In November 1991, 14 Croatian civilians and soldiers were also killed in the nearby village of Nadin.
