The host of the Philosophical Theatre, Srecko Horvat, said the new season would be a mixture of "economics, sociology, philosophy and even rock and roll", with British-Pakistani philosopher, writer and activist Tariq Ali, who cancelled his attendance during the previous season due to illness, being the first guest of the new season, on October 30.
In the two years since its inception, the Philosophical Theatre has featured leading world intellectuals, directors and actors such as Vanessa Redgrave, Margrethe von Trotta, Thomas Piketty, Slavoj Zizek and others.
On November 27, the Philosophical Theatre will feature renowned Polish sociologist Zygmunt Bauman, one of the most important and influential sociologists of today and author of more than 60 books, many of which are considered classics of sociology and theory of literature.
On December 4, the Philosophical Theatre will feature former Greek finance minister Yanis Varoufakis, who is described as "a rock star among economists" who has gained fame with his strong opposition to the EU's austerity measures.
In January 2017, the Philosophical Theatre will welcome one of the most interesting Italian philosophers Franco B. Bifo and the signer of the cult band Primal Scream, Bobby Gillespie, whose last album "Chaosmosis" was directly inspired by Bifo's philosophy.
This season of the Philosophical Theatre will also include the launch of French philosopher Alain Badiou's book "Rhapsody for the Theatre" in the Croatian language, to be published by the HNK.
