Int'l Field Training of Marine Robotics to be held in Biograd

Author: Ivana Tomičić Šušak

ZAGREB, Sept 24 (Hina) -  The Zagreb Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing will organise an international inter-disciplinary field training for marine robotics called Breaking The Surface (BtS), which will be attended by scientists and experts in marine robotics, biology, archeology, oceanology and security.

The 8th edition of the field training will be held in the central Adriatic town of Biograd on October 2-9.

BtS serves as a meeting place of experts and students of marine control engineering and signal processing and the marine robotics application areas in various types of ocean science. It is the world’s first successful, multi-year field training program that combines academic topics in marine robotics and robotics application areas and hands-on working experience in the sea, doing remote sensing and sampling for various ocean sciences.

The program is organised in the form of plenary talks, hands-on tutorials and demonstrations of marine technologies.

This year, in addition to its four program tracks Marine robotics (MAROB); marine biology and marine nature protection (MARBIO); maritime security, naval and coast guard operations (MARSEC); and maritime, nautical and ship archaeology (MARCH), the workshop will introduce new speakers from areas such as marine geology (MARGEO), oceanology (OCEAN), oceanography (GRAPH) and others.
