Last year 432 people were killed in road accidents in Croatia, 62 more than in 2014, and the proportion of traffic deaths in the total number of people who died in 2015 was 0.8 percent.
Of the total number of people killed in road accidents in Croatia in 2015, 78.2 percent were males and 21.8 percent females. Most people (67.6 percent) were killed while in a vehicle, while pedestrians accounted for 17.4 percent of traffic deaths.
The European Traffic Police Network (TISPOL), working with the European Commission, politicians, policymakers and road safety professionals, has chosen September 21 as the first European Day Without A Road Death (Project EDWARD).
"Our target is that no one should die on the roads of Europe on Wednesday 21 September. But of course every day should be an EDWARD day, and we believe that by working together we can make a significant contribution towards further sizeable and sustained reductions in road death and serious injury," TISPOL says.
