The cathedral is the most significant monument of medieval Kotor dedicated to this 3rd-century saint.
The official celebration will begin on Friday, 16 September with a special conference and Mass will be celebrated on Saturday by Zagreb Archbishop Cardinal Josip Bozanic.
The Kotor cathedral has a rich art fund with items dating between the 4th and 20th centuries, making it one of the most researched sacral architectural monuments in present-day Montenegro.
The day it was consecrated - 19 June 1166 A.D. marks the completion of its construction which began in 1124 A.D.
Original documents exist testifying to the cathedral's consecration, Vicar-General of Kotor Diocese, Don Anton Belan told Hina.
That document and the original Lectionary and Pontifical of Kotor dated 1090 A.D are written in Latin and are today archived in Saint Petersburg, Belan said.
