Blazevic, born in Travnik, central Bosnia and Herzegovina, was the first choice of the list of a coalition led by Zagreb Mayor Milan Bandic's party in Constituency No. 11. The list mustered some 4% of ballots in that constituency, which was short of a 5-percent threshold, and Blazevic gained a mere 259 preferential ballots.
"I have embarrassed myself. I am disappointed in Bosnia and Herzegovina. I believed that they liked me, and this shows that they don't give a hoot about me," Blazevic was quoted as saying on the web portal of the local Dnevni Avaz newspaper on Tuesday.
Blazevic admitted that Bandic's party had paid the cost of transporting voters by bus to polling stations in Bosnia and Herzegovina, but it did not result in any higher voter support.
A disenchanted Blazevic said that this was the end of his political engagement.
