Croats win 4 bronze medals at International Geography Olympiad

ZAGREB, Aug 25 (Hina) - Four Croatian secondary school students won bronze medals at the 13th International Geography Olympiad (iGeo), an annual competition for the best 16- to 19-year-old geography students from all over the world, which was held  in Beijing from 16 to 22 August.

Croatia's medal winners were Luka Banovic from Rijeka, Petar Suman and Juraj Vladika from Zagreb and David Zima from Osijek.

A  total of 45 teams from all continents participated in the 13th edition of iGeo in the Chinese capital. The copetition consisted of three parts: The Written Response Test, the Multi Media Test and the Fieldwork Exercise.

Croatia has so far participated in six International Geography Olympiads since 2010, and its pupils have taken medals every year, 19 in aggregate. Thus, the medal tally for Croatia from these competitions is: 6 golds, 5 silvers and 8 bronzes.
