The decision, adopted on the basis of an earlier political agreement in the country, establishes a system of vertical coordination between various levels of authority in communication and negotiations with EU Bodies.
The European Commission demanded that Bosnia, in negotiations on possible membership, communicate with Brussels with one voice. Years of negotiations on that failed for years because of internal disputes and the country's very complicated organisation, the final agreement finally being reached two weeks ago.
It is expected that, based on today's decision, the EU General Affairs Council will greenlight the consideration of Bosnia's membership candidate application, submitted in February, on September 16. If that happens, Bosnia might be granted the status by the end of 2017.
