HNB: Non-performing loans ratio falls to 16.12% in March

ZAGREB, May 31, (Hina) - The ratio of non-performing loans to total gross loans was 16.12% at the end of March this year when out of 267.02 billion kuna lent by commercial banks, HRK 43.04 billion was in default or close to being in default, according to figures presented by the Croatian National Bank (HNB) on Tuesday.

Thus, the NPL rate was reduced by 1.02 percentage points compared to the end of March 2015, and by 0.53 percentage points compared to the end of 2015.

According to figures presented by the central bank, the proportion of bad loans has decreased for the third consecutive quarter after it reached a peak of 17.34% at the end of June 2015. It dropped to 17.05% at the end of September 2015 and further to 16.65% at the end of 2015.

At the end of March 2016, the share of non-performing loans in household lending was 11.93%, while in corporate lending it stood at 28.26%.
