The topic of enlargement of the EU to include its neighbourhood seems to not be so popular any longer. Enlargement is being advocated only by latest newcomers in the EU, Plenkovic admitted.
German MEP Bernd Posselt, who used to be the president of the German member organisation of the Paneuropean Union, said that all south-eastern European countries belonged to the European Union.
The process of accession of new members must be fair. Croatia underwent one of the most painstaking processes of negotiations and I am glad that it made this before even stricter rules have been introduced, Posselt said.
