President's Office spends nearly 5 mln kuna less than planned in 2015

ZAGREB, Feb 28 (Hina) - The Office of Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic spent nearly 5 million kuna less than planned in 2015, the president's office said adding that its motto was "less is more", but stressing however that this did not reduce the activities of the Office.

The president's office said it proposed that its budget for 2016 be cut by HRK 2.5 million.

Figures released on the website of the Office of the President show that of the HRK 41.1 million planned for last year, the Office spent HRK 36.6 million. A total of HRK 2.1 million went to the salaries of former officials, which means that the Office of the incumbent president managed to save nearly 7 million kuna.

Asked about where the cuts were made in 2015, the Office of the President told Hina that the number of officials working working in the president's office was reduced from 36 to 14.
Additional cuts could made through the merging of general services and protocol service which currently exist separately for the Office of the President, the government and parliament.

The president's office cut the number of its employees from 153 to 134.

Last year the president made 32 foreign visits which shows that budgetary cuts did not reduce her activities, the president's office said.
