Author: Snježana Pezer
ZAGREB, Feb 11 (Hina) - The fifth edition of Zagreb Coffee & Chocofest opened on Thursday in downtown Zagreb and the organisers expect about 100,000 visitors to visit the festival where they can taste, photograph, sing, read and fall in love with all the facets of coffee and chocolate.
Ban Josip Jelacic Square will be an unavoidable destination from February 11 - 14, for everyone with a sweet tooth. The festival consists of various promotions, workshops, sales and producers presenting their products and creativity as well as trends in gastronomy in the coffee and chocolate industry.

Zagreb Mayor Milan Bandic opened the festival and said that chocolate is almost as important as love.  Ivica Lovric who is responsible for education in the city offices said that the festival has become part of Zagreb's urban culture where visitors can be better acquainted with all facets of sweets.

"We often hear that sweets aren't healthy however there are many products here that are sweet, healthy and real," he said, adding that at the festival we can discover all the secrets of chocolate.

Lovric added that the festival contributed to Zagreb becoming recognised in the world as a tourism destination.

Festival director, Sanja Bancevic Medenica said that the festival presented 30 exhibitors from Hungary, Slovenia, Austria, Italy and Croatia and that since the festival was originally launched it has attracted more than half a million visitors.

This year visitors will have an opportunity to enjoy a variety of renowned Viennese Helmut Sachers coffees or Barcaffe espresso, try coffee cocktails or select a gift for Valentine's Day.
