Author: Marija Šestan
ZAGREB, Jan 20 (Hina) - From Monday midnight until 2100 hrs Tuesday, 1,598 migrants crossed from Serbia into Croatia, raising the number of Europe-bound Asian and African refugees passing through Croatia to 598 520, according to the updated statistics provided by the interior ministry on Tuesday evening.
The winter refugee centre in the eastern town of Slavonski Brod catered for 12 refugees on Tuesday evening, according to the ministry,

Slovenia's Prime Minister Miro Cerar said on Tuesday evening that he had not got acquainted with measures which Austria was about to take this week to ration the refugee intake, however, he was following the developments and according to him, Slovenia is set to apply the corresponding measures along its border with Croatia.

"If Austria adopts measures to ration the refugee influx, Slovenia will have to react accordingly, and we will then inform Croatia about the reduction of the influx of migrants," Cerar told the Slovenian television on Tuesday evening,

Cerar expects Austria to introduce new measures later this week and to notify Slovenia in a timely fashion.

He said he was in favour of tightening the control over the European Union's external borders and over the Greece-Macedonia border.
