Slovenia will ask Croatia to provide list of migrants arriving in Dobova

Author: Ivana Tomičić Šušak
LJUBLJANA, Jan 6 (Hina) - Slovenia will in the future ask Croatia to provide a list of migrants it is transporting to the neighbouring country and information about them and if Croatia fails to comply Slovenia will not receive them, State Secretary in the Slovenian Interior Ministry Bostjan Sefic said.
Sefic, who is in charge of the migrant issues, said that introducing control on some internal Schengen borders was a temporary measure, warning however that Slovenia was prepared to introduce additional control measures at its border with Croatia if the migrant crisis did not calm down.

Slovenia has recently asked Croatia for a meeting between the two countries top police officials to clarify its proposals on additional control of migrants passing through the so-called Balkan migrant route, aimed at identifying the people taking this route, Sefic said.

Slovenian Foreign Minister Karl Erjavec also confirmed on Tuesday that Slovenia had introduced additional measures, but denied media claims that Slovenia had discovered terrorism suspects among the migrants.

Sefic said Slovenia had not received any notification from Italy regarding the alleged re-establishment of border control and documents checking at the Slovenian-Italian border because of the crossing of the migrants from Slovenia to Italy. The news about this was brought by the Milan daily Corriere della Sera which cited sources in the Italian government.

More than 392,000 migrants entered Slovenia since mid October 2015.
