Parliamentary election cost HRK 122 mln

Author: Snježana Pezer
ZAGREB, Dec 30 (Hina) - About the same amount or just over HRK 122 million was spent on the election this year as was four years ago, according to a State Electoral Commission (DIP) report.
Most of the expenses (HRK 69.7 mln) went to cover the work of electoral bodies - electoral committees (41.2 mln), municipal commission (15.5 mln), town commissions (7.4 mln) and electoral commissions in twelve constituencies (1.3 mln).

About HRK 28 million will be required to reimburse parties and coalitions for election campaigning costs and an additional HRK 25 million was spent on material costs, which adds up to a total gross amount of HRK 122.3 million.

The participants in the election are eligible for a reimbursement of the costs invested in their election campaigns, which means they are entitled to HRK 180,000 for each seat won in parliament. The Patriotic Coalition will receive HRK 10.6 million, the Croatia Is Growing coalition is entitled to HRK 10.1 million and the Bridge party will receive HRK 3.4 million.

The reimbursement is paid to parties, coalitions or minority representatives for each seat in parliament if they pass DIP's financial control. The control inspects whether parties adhered to legislation concerning election campaigning.

When all the costs for the parliamentary election are taken into account, they amount to HRK 122.3 million, just a little more than was spent four years ago (HRK 122.2 million).
