In 2015 Croatia paid 3.01 billion kuna or 394 million into the EU budget and received 4.24 billion kuna or 556 million euros from it. Some of the payments were made directly to programme beneficiaries, so the amount is actually higher than that recorded by the Ministry of Finance.
Exact figures will be known in mid-2016 when the European Commission is due to release its financial report.
The previous reports by the European Commission show that in 2013 Croatia received 49.6 million euros more from the EU budget than it contributed to it and in 2014 this amount reached 173.6 million euros.
