The first half will be played at 11 am on the Lucija-Brezovica border crossing near Oprtalj, while the second half will be played at 2 pm at the Dragonja-Kastel border crossing near Buje, the protest's coordinator, Vlatka Kolarovic, told Hina on Friday.
"The friendly volleyball match across the fence is part of a protest against the wire fence being put up between Croatia and Slovenia in Istria or anywhere else in Europe, against all wire fences that stand in the path of human liberty. We want to send a strong message to all of Europe that the wire fence in Istria is not welcome," Koarovic said.
The City of Pula and Istria County have entered the European Cultural Capital +2020 competition with the theme of demilitarisation, yet we are now in fact "witnessing a new militarisation of European cities and our lives against which we will fight, on behalf of all of Europe, with games, creativity and non-violence," she said.
