Close to 40% of Croatians plan travel during winter

Author: Roberta Mlinarić
ZAGREB, Dec 13 (Hina) - Close to 40% of Croatians plan to travel this winter, which is 11% more than last winter, and most of them will travel to European destinations during the Advent season and for the New Year holidays, shows a survey conducted by the Mastercard company in cooperation with the GfK agency.
The survey was conducted in October, covering 1,000 users of banking services aged 18-55.

Advent trips are planned mostly by young people aged 18-29, while ski holidays are planned mostly by people aged 40-49. Trips within this region and to other European countries, but not for Advent and the New Year holidays, are planned by respondents aged 50-55.

Apart from winter travel plans, Croatians travel for pleasure twice as often as they do for business purposes (68% against 32%), and most respondents, 67%, want to spend their holidays in Croatia.

Of those who travelled over the past year, 40% visited world-famous destinations such as Munich (15%), London (9%), Rome (7%) and Paris (6%). Almost 30% of those polled spent an average of HRK 3,000 while travelling and as many as one in three said they could not remember how much money they had spent.
