Croatia's Lora Vidovic to chair European Network of National Human Rights Institutions

Author: Vojo Micak
ZAGREB, Dec 2 (Hina) - Croatian human rights ombudswoman Lora Vidovic has been chosen to chair the European Network of National Human Rights Institutions (ENNHRI), which is yet another recognition of the efforts of the Human Rights Ombudswoman's Office in protecting and promoting human rights, her office said in a press release on Wednesday.
The decision was made at an ENNHRI general meeting in Utrecht on December 1.

Vidovic said she was glad that their work was recognised and that their colleagues had entrusted them with running a network of more than 40 institutions across Europe in pursuit of the same goal -- protecting and promoting human rights.

"Our new role will help strengthen the protection of citizens in Croatia because efforts at resolving their problems will gain a stronger voice at international level. We will also have a chance to more directly gather good practices of other countries and share our own successful experiences with others," she said.

Vidovic will assume the ENNHRI chairmanship in March 2016 when she will take over from Alan Miller, the chair of the Scottish Human Rights Commission.
