Author: Ivana Tomičić Šušak
ZAGREB, Oct 29 (Hina) – The Croatian government project e-Citizens has been declared the best project in Europe at the global summit Open Government Partnership, held in Mexico City, the government public relations office said in a statement.
Croatia received the award for its e-Citizens project which enables citizens to have a modern, faster and simpler communications with the public administration and promotes transparency in the public sector when it comes to providing public services, the statement said.

"The Croatian government has made the biggest progress in providing quality public services in Europe, which is why we have received the award of the initiative Open Government Partnership,” said Josko Klisovic, Deputy Foreign and European Affairs Minister who received the award on behalf of Croatia.

The Open Government Partnership (OGP) initiative was launched in 2011 to provide an international platform for domestic reformers committed to making their governments more open, accountable, and responsive to citizens.  Since then, OGP has grown from 8 countries to the 66 participating countries.  In all of these countries, government and civil society are working together to develop and implement ambitious open government reforms.
This year approximately 1500 participants – including representatives from civil society organisations, businesses and governments – attended the OGP Global Summit, which was held in Mexico City from October 27 - 29.
