The ministry added that "at the moment the stability of strategic buffer stocks is not jeopardised, considering the quantity that has been dispatched."
"As we do not know the exact number of migrants nor how long they will remain in Croatia, at the moment it is difficult to estimate how much will be required to replenish strategic buffer stocks. If that should show to be necessary the directorate will request the government to replenish stocks," the ministry said in a statement.
Around 15,400 migrants have been recorded entering Croatia by 3 pm Friday, the Interior Ministry reported. They are have all-day health care at their disposal at seven locations and medical teams have conducted about one thousand examinations so far, the Health Ministry said.
There are currently 22 medical teams on duty and if need be, new reception centres will be set up in a very short time with additional medical teams.
The Croatian Bishops' Conference (HBK) Justice and Peace Commission on Friday appealed to believers and people of good will to offer aid to refugees and institutions caring for migrants within their possibilities. The HBK appealed to the European Union and European countries to show active solidarity toward refugees and countries bearing the brunt of this humanitarian crisis.
