Guidelines adopted for use of Indian hemp for medicinal purposes

Author: rmli
ZAGREB, Aug 16 (Hina) - An expert commission enquiring into legalising the use of marijuana for medicinal purposes has concluded its work and has recommended guidelines which should soon be transformed into regulations enabling the use of Indian hemp by people suffering from multiple sclerosis, AIDS, malignant illnesses and children's epilepsy.

The guidelines include indications warranting the use of Indian hemp, the Croatian Health Ministry has reported.

The next step is to amend regulations on the classification of medications and the issuance of prescription drugs to facilitate the use of hemp drugs. The regulations will define the rights to produce and distribute Indian hemp and the issuing of prescriptions for its use.

The use of Indian hemp has not been approved for other neurological illnesses such as Parkinson's disease and epilepsy or psychiatric disorders such as PTSD, depression and anxiety.

Experts have established that medical products based on Indian hemp cannot cure malignant diseases or stop the progression of multiple sclerosis or AIDS but that they can relieve some symptoms and so their use is recommended alongside conventional treatment.
