Pusic: Military parade is Croatia's own business

Author: vmic
BRUSSELS, July 20 (Hina) - The military parade to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Operation Storm on August 4 is Croatia's own business and failure by foreign delegations to attend won't change a thing, Foreign Minister Vesna Pusic said in Brussels on Monday.

"I don't think it's a blow to Croatia. Quite the contrary, we should stick to the Croatian army and organise it as a celebration with a parade of Croatian troops in the capital. That's our business and whoever wants to take part in any form is welcome. I don't think it should in any way be connected with the participation of anyone from abroad. That's our celebration which is being elevated to the level of a state affair, a state event in the capital. I think that's exactly what it should be. Anyone wishing to come is welcome and if someone doesn't want to come, no harm done. I don't see any problem in that, it's really our own business," Pusic told the press when asked to comment on media reports that many of the foreign military delegations that have been invited to the Victory and Homeland Thanksgiving Day parade will not come.

Pusic is in Brussels to attend a meeting of EU foreign ministers.
