Serbian foreign minister cancels attendance at Croatia Forum

Author: vmic
DUBROVNIK, July 9 (Hina) - Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic has cancelled his attendance at the Croatia Forum in Dubrovnik without giving any reason, Croatian Foreign Minister Vesna Pusic said on Thursday.

Dacic said on Tuesday that Serbia would closely follow which countries would send their troops to Croatia on August 5 to take part in a military parade being organised by Croatia to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Operation Storm, stressing that their participation would be regarded as an anti-Serbian stance.

"I assume that based on that he has decided not to come," Pusic told the press in Dubrovnik, noting that she did not know the official reason why Dacic had cancelled his attendance.

Pusic would not comment on Thursday's extradition by Australia of Serbian-born former paramilitary commander Dragan Vasiljkovic to face war crimes charges in Croatia. She said that it was just another war crimes case to be handled by courts. "Frankly speaking, I don't think it's any special event. It's just clearing up an old mess."

Pusic said she was travelling to Srebrenica, eastern Bosnia and Herzegovina on Saturday "as a citizen, deputy prime minister and minister" to pay her respects to the genocide victims and to show a determination that Croatia would do all in its power to ensure that such atrocities never happened again.
