ZAGREB, June 16
(Hina) - The ruling Social Democratic Party (SDP) on
Monday evening responded to accusations from the HDZ leader Tomislav
Karamarko about the SDP being behind the claims about his cooperation
with the Yugoslav-era secret service (UDBA), insisting that Karamarko
made those accusations only "to divert attention from the fact that
(Josip) Manolic, a former UDBA chief is a founder of the HDZ (Croatian
Democratic Union)" and that Karamarko and Manolic "are connected by
their shared past".
