"We are seeing more statements in public that spread hatred against others and those who are different, however that has more weight when it is said by public and influential people, including politicians because they have the most impact on creating the social climate," Vidovic said while presenting an annual report on the work of the Ombudsman's Office.
Vesna Skare Ozbolt of the Democratic Centre (DC) said that for years the ombudsman's report had noted the same complaints, particularly with reference to the duration of court proceedings. The recommendations made in the reports should be taken into account and implemented, otherwise what is their point, she said.
Skare Ozbolt proposed that parliament should consider appointing an ombudsman for consumer protection for financial products, as was the case in some other countries.
