57 pct of respondents trust their bosses but keep them at a distance

ZAGREB, May 24 (Hina) - More than half of workers trust their bosses but cannot have a friendly relationship with them, keeping them at a distance, according to a survey by the MojPosao job-seeking portal.

The survey covered more than 1,000 respondents, of whom 57% trust their bosses, including 59% of women and 55% of men.

Superiors are trusted by 66% of respondents under 30, 55% of those aged 31-40 and 49% of those above 41.

Also, bosses are most trusted by respondents with a university degree (66%).

The respondents believe that arrogance and exaggeration of mistakes are a boss' typical flaws, so 43% believe bosses should be less arrogant and 36% that they should stop exaggerating mistakes in order for the working environment to be more pleasant.

Thirty-four percent would like their bosses to focus less on trifles, 32% would like them to be less critical and 23% would like their bosses to stop interfering in their private life.

Eighteen percent of respondents describe their relationship with their boss as honest and 17% as friendly, 40% have an artificially polite relationship with their boss in order to keep their job, 12% have a cold and distant relationship, and 10% complained about an unpleasant one.

Thirty-eight percent of respondents said they had a very good relationship with their male boss and 31% with their female boss.

Respondents under 30 have the best relationship with their boss (44%), describing it as honest and friendly.

Forty-nine percent of respondents believe their boss demands of them more than their job description outlines and do not like this, 23% approve of the demand for more effort, while 28% are against doing something outside their job description.

As many as 75% of respondents say their boss appreciates them, while 39% say that is the case only when they do something extra.

According to 43% of respondents, most bosses express their satisfaction with a verbal commendation, 11% received a financial reward, 9% were given a day off and 5% received a commendation in writing.

Sixty percent of respondents would never assault their boss, 61% would never be friends with their superiors, 13% are friends with them outside of work as well, while 26% could be in such a relationship in different circumstances.
