A total of 34,735 crimes were resolved and the resolution rate was 61%. Organised crime dropped by 13.5%, while the number of economic crimes and corruption went up 1.2%.
Corruption-related crimes were 52.6% down from 2013 and the number of perpetrators dropped as well, by 54.5%. Ostojic said that the statistics were not the result of a drop in such crimes in 2014 but of a significant increase in such crimes in 2013, when 897 corruption crimes were reported, with 362 perpetrators.
High-tech crime increased by 53.7%. The highest increase was reported in computer fraud, new types of malware were reported as was an increase in attacks on citizens' computer safety, primarily in banking transactions.
The number of seizures of drugs and substances prohibited in sport increased by 29.6%.
The number of crimes against life and body and sexual freedom and of sexual abuse and child abuse dropped by 7.7%.
Thirty-five murders were reported, six fewer than in 2013, as were 113 attempted murders. All the crimes reported last year were solved as was one crime reported in the previous years.
There were no crimes related to terrorism, and there were 14 hate crimes, 60% less than the year before.
The trend of a decreasing number of road accidents continued in 2014, with 60 fewer fatalities than in 2013, said the minister.
