April is the second month in a row to record a fall in the number of the unemployed on the month and the first month, after September 2014, to see the unemployment rate drop below 300,000.
In December, unemployment grew for the fourth straight month and the trend continued in January. As of today, 321,972 persons are registered with the HZZ.
The unemployment rate continues to go down in May as well, primarily owing to seasonal employment in the tourism sector.
According to the Employment Service, there are 289,828 persons currently seeking employment while 11,757 jobs are currently being advertised.
Women make up 53.8% of the unemployed. Their share increased while that of unemployed men decreased year on year.
