Croatia and Iraq have traditionally good relations, and because of its own recent past Croatia very well understands the challenges faced by Iraq, Pusic said. Croatia is a member of the coalition against Islamic State and will continue to help Iraq through the coalition mechanisms as well, she added.
Speaking of the economy, Pusic said that Croatian companies were ready to operate on the Iraqi market, especially in electrification, infrastructure construction and the defence industry, notably in the modernisation of tanks.
"Croatian companies have a tradition of operating in Iraq," Pusic said.
Al-Mutlaq said that Iraq was also interested in the food industry because it had its own production.
The Iraqi deputy prime minister showed an interest in the process of liberation of Croatia, particularly in the process of peaceful reintegration of the Danube region.
Later in the day, Pusic is scheduled to meet with Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari and Defence Minister Khaled al-Obeidi, according to the press release.
