Risk of Ebola virus in Croatia remains negligible

Author: vmic
ZAGREB, April 16 (Hina) - After the Clinical Centre in Ljubljana confirmed on Thursday it had admitted a patient with Ebola symptoms, the Croatian Public Health Institute (HZJZ) issued a statement saying that a risk of an outbreak of the deadly virus in Croatia remained negligible.

The Clinical Centre in Ljubljana has admitted a woman with high temperature and symptoms indicating Ebola, which has not been confirmed. The woman is a Slovenian national who returned to Slovenia after visiting Sierra Leone, where the Ebola epidemic is still active. Her blood samples have been sent for analysis and initial results were negative, the statement said.

"The risk of appearance and spreading of Ebola in Croatia remains negligible. In the European Union, and in Croatia too, health monitoring measures are in force for people returning from Ebola-affected territories and they will remain in place until the Ebola epidemic in the African countries is over," the HZJZ said.
