The show, to last until Sunday 19 April, features boats of all shapes and sizes, from small fishing boats of around 5 metres in length to 23-metre yachts. The fair's technical director, Robert Sormaz, explained that there would not be any special opening ceremonies this year due to the crisis in the nautical sector.
"The crisis is still present and unfortunately boat sales have not improved," said Vicenco Blagaic, director of the Profectus company which organised the show.
According to Blagaic, the number of boats leaving the Adriatic is growing and marinas are becoming increasingly empty.
"Since the beginning of the crisis the nautical sector has been declining and each year we hope that it will stop and recovery will occur. Unfortunately, there has been no progress yet," Blagaic said.
