The nest is 17 metres in diameter and 55 in circumference and is the work of visual artist Nikola Faller. A tonne of hay was used to make it.
Project coordinator Stjepan Curaj said the submission of the nest for the Guinness Book of Records would put the eastern Croatian city on Europe's tourist map.
Economy Minister Ivan Vrdoljak attended the event, applauding it and saying the Guinness candidacy could help the promotion of Osijek's tourism. He said the National Tourist Board and the Tourism Ministry should take part in such projects and include them for the tourist promotion of Osijek and Croatia.
"Easter in Osijek" was organised by the City of Osijek and its tourist board, among others.
