Author: half
ZAGREB, April 2 (Hina) - The animated short film "Wiener Blut", by painter and sculptor Zlatko Bourek, will open the ninth annual Festival of Tolerance in Zagreb on April 12-18, the festival's president, producer Branko Lustig, told reporters on Thursday.

This year's festival will feature 82 films. Admission will again be free.

The programme will mark the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, including films on the Holocaust, and the 20th anniversary of the Srebrenica massacre.

One of the guests will be Hungarian Oscar-winning director Istvan Szabo and the programme includes a retrospective of his works.

On April 11, the Italian Culture Institute will stage a photo exhibition by Donata Pizzi, "Intolerance Zero", featuring photos of places around the world where hate crimes were committed.

With his project "1945-1995-2015", Sarajevo artist Tarik Samarah will remind residents of Zagreb of the Srebrenica genocide through billboards set up all around the city.

The festival will again include Education Mornings to teach young people and children about the horrors of the Holocaust. A talk will be given by Oleg Mandic, the last inmate to come alive out of Auschwitz, where he was deported at age 11. Today he lives in Opatija.
