Admiral Foggo said that he was pleased with the high quality of the work performed on the overhaul of the USS Mount Whitney, the flagship of the Sixth Fleet, and praised the shipyard's workers for their effort and professionalism, according to a press release from the shipyard.
The shipyard's CEO Robert Skific said he was glad that the US Navy had again chosen Viktor Lenac for an overhaul of the Sixth Fleet's flagship.
The overhaul will last six months. The ship previously underwent repairs in the Croatian shipyard in 2011.
The US Navy delegation included Military Attache Doug Faherty, the ship's commander Captain Mark Colombo and officer Scott Savery, and was accompanied by a Croatian Navy delegation headed by the commander, Commodore Predrag Stipanovic, and Colonel Darko Podrug.
