The annual decline in the prices was due to a 6.2% drop in prices of plant products and a 3.2% decrease in prices of livestock.
Even though prices of farm products dropped year-on-year, prices of animal products increased 5.2% from 2013, mostly owing to an increase in prices of milk and honey, the DZS has said.
The DZS believes that the 2014 drop in prices of most plant products is due to the year being very rainy and that the price level was partly affected by a greater supply of agricultural products on the European market, caused by Russia's ban on food imports from the EU.
