As usual a large number of citizens are leaving their tax returns until the last moment so to speak and the Tax Administration has reported that it would remain open until 7pm Monday. Taxpayers can submit their returns at the relevant Tax Administration office in person or in the post as registered mail as long as it is posted before midnight Monday.
In Croatia, Tax Day is 28 February, which fell on Saturday this year, which was why tax returns were due the following Monday.
The Tax Administration further reported that the number of tax returns and expected refunds would most likely remain similar to 2013 and for that year 725,001 returns were submitted.
More than 585,056 citizens received rebates amounting to almost HRK 1.1 billion while 74,125 citizens owed HRK 424.8 million to the Tax Administration.
