I am very pleased with the friendly cooperation between the two countries, she said ahead of a ceremony at Vatroslav Lisinski concert hall on the occasion of Chinese New Year and the 10th anniversary of a cooperation partnership between the two countries.
She said Croatian-Chinese political cooperation was excellent, as confirmed by numerous visits by senior Chinese officials to Zagreb and Croatian Parliament Speaker Josip Leko's visit to China last year.
Economic cooperation is also intensifying and in 2014 the Chinese company CNBM International Engineering signed with the Port of Ploce a 30-million contract on building and equipping a bulk cargo terminal, the ambassador said.
Between 2003 and 2009, Croatia was China's biggest trade partner in Southeast Europe, but the economic relations need an additional impetus. Trade in 2013 was US$ 1.495 billion, up 8.8% from 2012.
The ambassador said China was increasingly interested in this part of Europe, with over 53,000 Chinese tourists visiting Croatia last year.
She said cooperation in education was also intensifying, with 28 Croatian students receiving scholarships for Chinese universities last year.
