Mayor Boris Miletic said this was a "historic event... opening possibilities for citizens, tourists, but also business people."
"The European pilot project of establishing ties and connecting coastal towns and islands by seaplane has shown its justification and big benefit," he said, adding that he was looking forward to the connecting of the Croatian and Italian Adriatic coasts.
Martin said Pula was a very important city in the northern Adriatic which would be connected not just with the Adriatic seaports, but with the rest of the world via Italy. "We want to maintain daily connections, twice a daily in the summer, once in the winter, depending on the interest."
Responding to questions from the press, he said the ECA had 55 employees and that it would hire another 15 by year's end. Having invested EUR 15 million in infrastructure, the company wants to invest another EUR 20 million this year and another EUR 20 million in 2016.
