He was speaking at a rally called "One cross for one life" which drew about 1,500 protestors in Zagreb's central square, most of whom came on foot from a tent outside the War Veterans Ministry, where they have been holding a sit-in since October 20, demanding the resignation of Minister Predrag Matic and his associates.
Glogoski said many wondered why veterans were protesting, answering that it was because of the treatment by institutions and especially the people at their helm of war veterans, their families and the 1991-95 Homeland War.
Glogoski said the demands the protesting veterans had sent to parliament still applied.
Among other things, he accused the government of the fact that their children had to leave Croatia after finishing school because "our children don't have a future in their country."
A message to war veterans was read out at the rally, saying there are between 800 and 1,000 suicides in Croatia every year, of whom 100-120 are veterans. From 1990 through June 1996, 266 veterans committed suicide, while veteran suicides by 2005 totalled 1,632. The average age at which a veteran kills himself is 38. The youngest was 18, taking his life in 1994.
